AC Milan brought the curtain down on the calendar year in excellent fashion, beating Hellas Verona 3-0 at San Siro on Sunday.
Christian Pulisic got the first goal right on the stroke of half-time, but he would have to make do with being a supporting actor as Christopher Nkunku stole the spotlight. The Frenchman scored twice in quick succession in the second half to get his first league goals since arriving.
The victory means that Milan secured second spot going into 2026, with Massimiliano Allegri declaring after the game that top four remains the target for his team, despite the dreams of a possible title push.
Milan vs. Verona: Ratings from the papers
La Gazzetta dello Sport have published their ratings from the game this morning, starting with the team’s overall performance and the management of Allegri, both of which earned a 7 out of 10. Nkunku got the same score for his brace to finally get off the mark.
In what is somewhat of a rarity, the lowest score of any Milan player is actually a 6. Mike Maignan, Fikayo Tomori, Koni De Winter, Alexis Saelemaekers, Ardon Jashari, Youssouf Fofana and Samuele Ricci all got a pass.
Strahinja Pavlovic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Adrien Rabiot and Davide Bartesaghi were awarded a 6.5 for their contributions. Pulisic, who got his 10th goal in all competitions, received a 7 like Nkunku.
Corriere dello Sport handed out a 7.5 to Nkunku, with Modric, Pulisic and Rabiot getting a 7. Pavlovic and Bartesaghi were given 6.5s, with all the other players getting a passing grade of 6.
Tuttosport put a slightly different spin on things by picking Modric as their man of the match, giving him a 7.5. Nkunku got the same; Pulisic and Rabiot got 7s; Tomori, Pavlovic, Loftus-Cheek and Jashari 6.5; and the rest a pass.
