AC Milan captain Mike Maignan has admitted that there was some disappointment after failing to get all three points against Juventus.
Milan’s winning run was halted at the Allianz Stadium against Juventus, though their impressive defensive record did continue as the spoils were shared after a 0-0 stalemate. There will be some regret though, with Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao missing big chances to win it.
Both of those came after a Maignan miracle, however. A corner was taken short and floated into the box, and Federico Gatti chested the ball down alone in behind the Milan defence, yet the French goalkeeper had sprung off his line and denied him with an amazing reflex save.
He picked up the Player of the Match award off the back of that intervention, too. Maignan spoke to DAZN after the full-time whistle to offer his thoughts on the game, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
How do you feel leaving the stadium?
“We’re disappointed because we wanted to take home the three points. We drew, which is hard to accept, but Juve are a good team. We have to do better and we can do better, but the positive thing is that when we don’t win, we don’t lose.”

Can you tell us about that save on Gatti? Was it all instinct?
“I don’t know. It was a positive episode for me and the team. But the important thing was to get the three points, but we didn’t lose: Matteo is right, the season is long.”
Pulisic missed a penalty…
Pulisic is a very good player, and mistakes are normal. Everyone makes mistakes, we have nothing against him. If there’s another penalty, he’ll score it. He missed, is it the end? No. He’ll do better next time.”
