Maximo Perrone has joined Como on a permanent deal

Como have signed Maximo Perrone from Manchester City on a permanent deal for a fee of up to €15million (£12.9million) after the Argentine midfielder impressed on loan with the Serie A new boys last season.

City had been expected to bank a higher fee for the 22-year-old earlier in the summer after he became a key man in Cesc Fabregas' side last season, making 26 appearances in Serie A and featuring in every game for which he was available, but Como will pay €13million up front (£11.2million), with a further €2million in add-ons.

The deal does include attractive clauses for City, with a 30% sell-on clause that could land them further profit should Perrone continue to impress in Italy. The Blues also have a buy-back clause that could bring him back to the Etihad if he shines for the ambitious Serie A side.

Perrone signed for City from Velez Sarsfield in January 2023 for £8million but made just two appearances for the club during his time at the Etihad, playing 18 minutes against Bournemouth in the Premier League in February 2023 and then two minutes against Bristol City in the FA Cup later that month.

Man City have launched their new away shirt for the 2025/26 season, featuring an all-black design inspired by the club's earliest-known kit.

Perrone's departure had been expected this summer, and as he hasn't featured in the first-team squad recently, he wasn't part of the outgoings demanded by Pep Guardiola to trim his bloated squad.

But his sale does balance the books after the Blues spent £12.5million to sign 18-year-old midfielder Sverre Nypan on Thursday. He will spend the 2025/26 season out on loan.

Director of football Hugo Viana is now focused on securing moves for exiled first-teamers Kalvin Phillips and Jack Grealish, while James McAtee is expected to fetch around £25million.

Further exits are expected with doubts over the futures of midfield pair Ilkay Gundogan and Nico Gonzalez, as Viana looks to get the numbers down after eight new signings so far in 2025.
