Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni continues to be linked with a move to Manchester United with Rodri potentially holding the key to any transfer
Manchester United could be set for an Aurelien Tchouameni transfer boost courtesy of Real Madrid's interest in Manchester City star Rodri. At least one midfield signing is expected at Old Trafford this summer with Tchouameni the latest high-profile name to be linked.
According to The Telegraph, the Frenchman is considered an interesting option given how he could become available this summer. That is because Real president Florentino Perez is a big admirer of Rodri with the midfielder also fitting the profile of signing he likes as the captain of Spain and Madrid-born.
Despite playing for Atletico Madrid, the 29-year-old fuelled talk of a future move to Los Blancos after stating that "you can't turn down the best clubs in the world". Rodri has just over one year left on his current contract with City having already offering him an extension as they do not want to part ways.

Nothing has been agreed as of yet though, which has handed Real a further incentive to pursue his services. And United could benefit greatly from any deal as it could open the door to a Tchouameni exit.
It has also been noted however that Real are more likely to listen to offers for Eduardo Camavinga, who is another midfielder than has been linked to United. He has been forced to play a reduced role over the last few months, but is not actively looking to leave despite Real's stance.

Any deal for either Tchouameni or Camavinga would likely be significantly expensive and that could see United look elsewhere as they are likely to bring in two midfielders ahead of the 2026/27 season.
That is because Casemiro will be leaving the club at the end of the current campaign with the absence of Kobbie Mainoo in the defeat to Leeds United earlier this month exposing the lack of depth in that position.
The England international was back in the starting XI for the win at Chelsea and put in an excellent display to help United move to within six points of securing Champions League qualification.
Michael Carrick's side extended the gap to double-figures between themselves and Chelsea, though points for Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford saw the chasing pack close in. United do have some breathing room however, and can further ease any concerns by beating the latter next Monday.
A return to Europe's elite club competition will almost certainly assist United in the upcoming transfer window with other midfield targets such as Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba previously valued by their respective clubs in the region of £100million.
Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle United are others that fit into that bracket with a disappointing campaign under Eddie Howe potentially resulting in marquee departures being sanctioned.
In terms of cheaper options for United, Wolves' Joao Gomes and Matheus Fernandes could become of interest especially if the latter is relegated with West Ham United.
