Liverpool target Marc Guehi has ignited fresh transfer rumors amongst supporters following Crystal Palace's stalemate with Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
The centre-back was included in Oliver Glasner's starting lineup for their clash at Stamford Bridge despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding his future. Liverpool is eager to secure his signature in the remaining fortnight of the transfer window, and Glasner offered a cryptic hint on his future.
Guehi has fewer than 12 months left on his Palace deal, meaning the south London club must consider selling him during this window to prevent losing him for nothing next summer.
Following his captain's armband duties in the Community Shield victory over Liverpool last weekend, Guehi featured for the full 90 minutes in Palace's goalless encounter with Chelsea. Post-match, Glasner praised Guehi's commitment alongside Eberechi Eze, who has attracted interest from Tottenham.
"There's a lot of rumors about Eberechi and Marc Guehi, but I think everyone who watched the game saw they're 100% with this group, with this group and it's what we expect from our players that they give 100%," he told Sky Sports. "We rely on each other and they proved it in a brilliant way."
Nevertheless, Sky Sports have subsequently released footage that appears to show Guehi blanking Glasner at the final whistle. The Palace boss was seen calling the defender's name repeatedly as he headed towards the tunnel.
Guehi seemed to exchange a few words with the Austrian before heading off towards the tunnel. Glasner then turned his attention to the travelling fans and appeared to engage Jean-Philippe Mateta in conversation about the defender.
The ECHO has reported this week that negotiations are underway for Palace skipper Guehi - with the potential transfer being viewed as separate from the £26m acquisition of young Italian defender Giovanni Leoni.
