Mason Mount and Luke Shaw make same Man Utd point ahead of Liverpool game

Luke Shaw and Mason Mount have both emphasized the importance of “consistency” as Manchester United prepares for its Premier League trip to Liverpool.

The visit to Anfield comes right after the October international break and offers Ruben Amorim’s side a chance to build on its recent 2-0 victory over Sunderland. Mount opened the scoring in that game with a composed two-touch finish inside the box, before Benjamin Sesko netted his second goal for the club.

In a joint interview with teammate Shaw for the club's website, the midfielder stressed the importance of using the Sunderland victory as a springboard to build momentum.

"It's really important to be consistent if you want to win games," Mount said. "We're a little bit too up and down at times, so that's also something that we need to address and really improve on."

Shaw concurred: "The most important thing is consistency. I think, at the moment, we're winning one game and losing the next, and I think it's been like that for a while now.

"We spoke about it a lot, on building good momentum and about winning games. I think the most important thing is winning games and getting the points."

Arne Slot’s side stand between United and the consistency they’re striving for, with the Red Devil's still chasing its first away league win of the season. A trip to Merseyside for Amorim's side is never straightforward, and this one promises to be no different.

"I think that away form is something that we'll continue to look at," Mount admitted. "I think our home form has been really good, we've been really solid at home, confident going into the games.

Liverpool faces Manchester United at Anfield this afternoon

"I think away, we've let games slip a little bit, conceded goals at a difficult time, and it's hard to get back into the game, especially away from home. So, I think that's definitely something we can look at."

Despite being widely tipped as title favourites before the campaign began, United may be facing the Reds at a favorable time. Slot’s men have suffered three consecutive defeats in all competitions, including one against the Chelsea side that United overcame at Old Trafford last month.

Shaw believes that any victory in L4, especially against United's fierce rivals, would have a major impact back at Carrington.

He said: "Sometimes performances don't matter if you're winning games. I think winning games is always a better feeling, especially around the place.

"The energy, the whole morale of the team is always better when you're winning games, so I think, for me, that's the base we need to build on, consistency."
