Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala has confirmed that the deed to sell San Siro to AC Milan and Inter should be completed this week.

In the past few weeks, the two clubs agreed a deal to buy the current stadium and surrounding land from the City Council, and that notion gained approval in the City Hall via a vote.

Despite this, there was still a race against time. The purchase must be completed by November 10, the day the constraint on the second tier of the San Siro stadium kicks in, preventing its demolition.

Now, the Mayor has provided a reassuring update on how things are going, as he spoke at the opening of a new market at Via Rombon 34.

“We’re confident the deed will be finalised by Friday. We’re working on it right now with the notary and the clubs,” he said (via MilanNews).

Sala then commented on the motion approved by the City Council to encourage fans to ride bicycles. with the story being that the biggest ever bike parking site could be created.

“It’s an opportunity to change fans’ habits, but above all because cycling is allowed at San Siro, whereas it would have been very difficult at San Donato.”
