Massimiliano Allegri decided to bring a new goalkeeping coach to AC Milan with him, and he is earning rave reviews so far.

According to Pietro Mazzara (via MilanPosts) – a journalist for MilanNews and Tuttosport – the new man Claudio Filippi is considered a top-class coach, and the other goalkeepers have noticed it too.

He adds that the training intensity is high, aiming to get the most out of every player, especially in decision-making and reading extreme in-game situations. Very positive reports so far, therefore.

Instant impact

It was reported at the end of May when the Allegri rumours intensified that he might look to bring Filippi with him. The Italian was Juventus’ goalkeeping coach from 2010 to 2024.

From last summer, he was the goalkeeping coordinator of Juve’s youth team but he ended up terminating his contract there to follow Max. In Turin, he worked with Buffon, Szczesny, Perin and Storari.

His task is to bring Mike Maignan back to the top, as well as helping the others of course. It has even been suggested that having Filippi there might convince the Frenchman to sign a new long-term renewal, after weeks of uncertainty including strong rumours of a move to Chelsea.
