Messaggero: Milan interested in Lazio goalkeeper – agent responds to exit talk

AC Milan continue to be linked with goalkeepers amid the uncertainty over Mike Maignan’s future, and a new name has emerged.

Maignan’s contract expires at the end of the season and as it stands he will leave Milan on a free transfer after five years at the club. There are reports suggesting a final attempt will be made by the management to renew his deal, though it seems more likely that he departs at present.

For this reason, Igli Tare is starting to look around for a possible replacement for the Frenchman. The latest name linked comes from Il Messaggero (via MilanPress), who write that Tare is looking to his former club Lazio and to Christos Mandas.

Mandas signed for Lazio from OFI in 2023 and has been a back-up to Ivan Provedel throughout his time in the capital. He renewed his deal earlier in the year, but this hasn’t stopped the speculation that he could be set for a move, though the idea of him replacing Maignan seems optimistic.

The agent speaks

The Greek goalkeeper’s agent, Diego Tavano, discussed his client’s future on the podcast ‘Calcio con Fulmi’ and he had nothing but positive words for him.

“Mandas is a fantastic boy, who deserves so much. The path was the right one, to develop him, he was responding brilliantly and everything was going well. Now the choices are different, I don’t question them, but Lazio has certainly lost value in the player,” he said.

“We’ve spoken to some English clubs, not top clubs, who wanted to invest a lot of money. In January, a sale of the player could be considered, but certainly for much less. We brought him up to €1m and today he’s worth at least €10m. Lazio’s asking price is much higher.”
