Micky van de Ven has now addressed the controversial snubbing of Spurs boss Thomas Frank that followed Tottenham Hotspur’s defeat to Chelsea.

Tottenham Hotspur suffered yet another disappointing defeat at the hands of their London rivals, Chelsea, last weekend, leaving them with one win in their last 18 games against the Blues.

It was a result that left everyone associated with Tottenham frustrated, from the fans in the stands to the players on the pitch. The mood around the camp was understandably tense, and emotions spilt over at full-time.

In the aftermath of the match, defenders Micky van de Ven and Djed Spence appeared to snub Tottenham boss Thomas Frank as they headed straight for the tunnel without acknowledging him, a moment that quickly went viral across social media and drew mixed reactions from Spurs supporters.

Micky van de Ven breaks silence on Thomas Frank snub at Tottenham

Speaking to football.london, Micky van de Ven has now addressed the controversial incident that followed Tottenham’s defeat to Chelsea, making it clear that the reaction to the footage was blown out of proportion by the media.

“Of course, it is the past, so I do not want to make it bigger than it is. Djed and I walked off, we were just frustrated after the game, and everything got really exploded by the media; it was nothing big, to be honest. Everyone thinks it was the gaffer; there was nothing to do with the gaffer.

“We were just frustrated after the game because of a bad performance from myself as well. We want to play well, and I did not play well in my opinion, so I was just frustrated, and I just wanted to go quickly inside. As I said, it got exploded by the media out of nowhere.”

Thomas Frank later confirmed that both players had spoken to him privately about the incident, revealing that the matter was quickly resolved behind closed doors and that he would always stand by his players when emotions run high.

All seems to have been forgotten, as Frank once again named Van de Ven in his starting XI for Tottenham’s Champions League tie against Copenhagen.

The Dutchman repaid his manager’s faith by scoring Tottenham’s third goal of the night with a powerful solo effort that took his tally to six for the season, making him Spurs’ top scorer so far.
