Arsenal are claimed to hold an interest in PSG winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Arsenal target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has already received a ringing endorsement from former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp. The Gunners have been linked with the Paris Saint-Germain winger ahead of the summer transfer window.

Kvaratskhelia’s dazzling displays previously inspired Napoli to clinch the Serie A title before completing a £59.5million move to PSG last January. It proved to be perfect timing as he arrived to help the French giants win the Champions League for the first time in their history.

The 25-year-old has quickly established himself as a key figure for Luis Enrique’s side, scoring 20 goals and delivering 15 assists in 69 games for the club. While Kvaratskhelia has spoken glowingly about his first year in Paris, Arsenal are reportedly considering a high-profile move for the forward.

The Independent reports that the Gunners are exploring a possible deal for Kvaratskhelia, who has emerged as a key target for Mikel Arteta’s team. It is claimed that the player’s camp are open to the move but any transfer fee would likely far exceed the £59.5m that PSG paid for him just over 12 months ago.

Arsenal have been linked with revamping their attacking options in the summer, with Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez being touted as another potential marquee signing. Kvaratskhelia is one of the world's best wide players and ex-Liverpool manager Klopp openly praised his style in the past.

“He has speed, he is cheeky, he goes inside, he can go outside, that makes it always really difficult,” Klopp said after Liverpool faced Napoli in November 2022.

“A good player and I thought Trent played a really good game against him, he was really on fire, he was really in, didn’t get frustrated by one or two situations where he was second-best, stayed in the game and I liked Trent’s game tonight.”

The Independent report adds that Arsenal are planning a significant overhaul in the summer, despite their success so far this season, and the club would be open to selling a senior star to fund their transfer plans. Kvaratskhelia has been identified due to his individual quality and ability to improve Arteta’s side, though PSG would fight to keep the Georgia captain.

Kvaratskhelia has tested himself against several English sides at PSG, given the European champions’ recent streak of eliminating Premier League teams in the Champions League. In a blow to Arsenal’s hopes of signing the winger, he appears to be enjoying his time in the French capital.

“For me, Paris is truly extraordinary,” Kvaratskhelia told Le Parisien. “You have everything here, and above all, this is the city of love. When PSG contacted me, I thought my wife was the happiest person in the world.

“Before PSG contacted me, she always said, ‘Imagine if one day we play for PSG, it would be amazing to stay there.’ In my mind, I think it’s very difficult to go there when there are great players like [Lionel] Messi, Neymar and [Kylian] Mbappe.

“I love everything about Paris. The more I think about it, the more I appreciate how respectful the people are there.”

He has featured in 37 matches so far this term, scoring 12 and providing seven assists. Kvaratskhelia has already won an incredible six major honours with PSG and will be eager to add to his trophy haul this season.
