The Arsenal squad has already impressed the vast majority of fans this season. While some critics have clung to the lack of goals from open play in the hope that the team might falter, so far, that yearning has gone unanswered.

Fresh off the four-goal drubbing of Atletico Madrid, the Gunners sit top of the Premier League and joint-top of the Champions League table too. They face Brighton next week at the Emirates Stadium in the fourth round of the League Cup, as they look to progress their hopes of silverware even further.

Mikel Arteta was backed in the summer with eight new signings, and they are starting to click. Some have hit the ground running, like Martin Zubimendi and Cristhian Mosquera, while Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres are still adapting.

However, perhaps even scarier is that the team is where it is despite missing so much talent. As much as £130million-plus worth of talent could be due back after the next international break.

Kai Havertz, Noni Madueke and Martin Odegaard will all be making their way into the group. What’s stunning, more so, is that on the expanded bench last night, Arsenal only named ten of a possible 12.

Max Dowman played for the youth side, while Havertz, Madueke, Odegaard, and Gabriel Jesus are all currently out injured. This speaks to the wealth of talent on offer already, but how much better things can get for the north London side.

There could be a scenario in future matches where senior stars have to be left out. The likes of Christian Norgaard, Piero Hincapie and the aforementioned Jesus, even when he does recover, might not find themselves picked for a matchday.

It is the perfect problem to have. Arteta was asked about now having a “good headache” and pointed to the performances of two players who came into the starting XI from the side that beat Fulham.

“Very good. I think Myles [Lewis-Skelly] and Gabs [Martinelli] were superb. The impact, the team, the results, they were great from the beginning. And the boys, they come again, and we use them in different ways again. I think we need to try to keep them all involved, believe that they have a chance to play.

“And if they play at that level, it's a joy because it's going to elevate our daily training sessions. That will mean the standard will be higher and we will compete better, for sure."
