Viktor Gyokeres helped Arsenal ease to a comfortable 4-0 victory over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night to continue their excellent start to the season.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his delight after Viktor Gyokeres' goals against Atletico Madrid while also hoping that he now goes on a goal-scoring run for the Gunners.
Gabriel Magalhaes gave Arteta's men the lead in Tuesday's 4-0 win after heading in a Declan Rice free-kick. Gabriel Martinelli then went on to finish with poise to double Arsenal's lead after a run from Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Gyokeres added a third and soon after a fourth goal, which will be a huge boost to him - even if they were simple poachers' finishes. The goals against Diego Simeone's squad are the Swede's first in eight matches - taking his total tally for Arsenal up to five across all competitions.
And Arteta has shared his happiness at seeing Gyokeres end his goal drought - while adding his hope for what the former Sporting CP star could now go on to achieve.
"Delighted as he fully deserved it," Arteta told Amazon Prime. "The work-rate he brings to the team is outstanding.
"We value a lot of things that he does for the team, and it was the biggest smile on his face today, and look at his teammates. Hopefully, this is the start of some beautiful sequences.
"I think we've become much more unpredictable. He's so physical, open, his face is for everybody.
"The way he presses the ball, holds the ball, that's phenomenal. And then there's a piece of cake and the biggest thing that we're going to debate about him is goals. He's scored two very different ones today and, hopefully, he starts to get some momentum and a good run of goals.
On the match itself, he added: "Well, obviously, I'm extremely happy and proud about the performance and the results against a really good side.
"I was very impressed when I've analysed them and what I've seen today about them, as well. I knew about the difficulty of it [the game]. It required a lot of aggression and a lot of patience, as well."
