Matteo Moretto has provided an update on the future of Robert Lewandowski, stating that the veteran striker is very unlikely to join AC Milan next summer.
Lewandowski’s contract with Barcelona will expire at the end of the season and as things stand, it looks like he will wave goodbye to the Catalan side. As a result, given that he still offers great quality, many clubs are evaluating a free transfer.
Milan are one of them, having been heavily linked with the Polish international, but we all know that it would take a lot for the deal to go through. Even if we put aside the competition, the financial aspects of the deal are hard to look past.
Moretto rules out Milan
In his latest video on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, Matteo Moretto discussed Lewandowski’s future. While confirming that a summer move is much more likely than one in January, he also made it clear that Milan can more or less be ruled out of the race.
“Beyond the ideas and ambitions that certain directors have, someone within Milan, I want to emphasise one aspect: Lewandowski’s salary is very high. From a cost and age perspective, he’s not exactly the profile that Milan are looking for.

“It’s true that Modric signed for Milan, but Modric also made a huge financial sacrifice. The situation is different with Lewandowski and as such, it’s a hypothesis that I wouldn’t entertain too much with regards to Milan,” the journalist stated.
