Milan Futuro 2-2 Leon: Two-goal lead surrendered in frustrating draw

Milan Futuro threw away a two-goal lead against AC Leon as they were forced to settle for a draw in their second Serie D game.

The Futuro began life in Serie D in ideal fashion as they came from behind to win their opening league game against Pavia by a scoreline of 2-1. Entering the final 10 minutes, it looked like they were heading for defeat but Branca and Perina scored in quick succession to complete a thrilling comeback.

That was technically the second round of the season, with Wednesday’s fixture against Leon at the Stadio Chinetti being a re-arranged round one game. In the end, the spoils had to be shared.

The away side started better, but it was Milan who took the lead midway through the first half. The finish from Gioele Perina was a tidy one but the credit had to go to Chaka Traore for what was a lovely assist by the winger.

In the 62nd minute, the Rossoneri thought they had put the game to bed and this time Max Ibrahimovic was the provider. The scorer was Cheveyo Balentien, someone who has attracted a lot of media attention in recent weeks.

They say the most vulnerable time for a team is just after scoring, and it proved to be the case. Two minutes after it was 2-0, Davighi got Leon back into it, and then with just over 10 minutes to go the captain Bonseri equalised.
