Milan Futuro tasted defeat on home soil on Sunday afternoon as they were edged by Casatese Merate in a five-goal thriller.
The Futuro secured a brilliant result last Sunday as they beat title contenders Chievo Verona handsomely away from home. Chaka Traore wore the captain’s armband and led by example with a first-half brace either side of a strike from distance courtesy of Emanuele Sala, with the final score 3-1. Massimo Oddo’s side jumped above Chievo into second as a result.
However, as has often been the case for the Futuro so far, they were unable to record another big result when it mattered as they lost 3-2 to Casatese Merate.
The first half was disappointing for the Rossoneri, who created nothing while the away side scored twice. El Hadji Gniangue was the star as he bagged a quick brace: the first a header in the 12th minute, the second a powerful left-footed diagonal shot past Pittarella in the 18th minute.
The Futuro surged in the second half, reducing the deficit with a penalty in the 55th minute through Chaka Traore (who also won it). They were then two goals behind again when Mecca bagged from long distance.
Victor Eletu reduced the deficit against with a low left-footed shot from outside the box in the 81st minute, setting up a dramatic finale, but Casatese Merate hung on. The Futuro remain stuck in fifth place on 34 points, overtaken by today’s opponents who climb to 35 points in fourth place.
