Milan Futuro 3-2 Chievo Verona: Impressive comeback puts Oddo’s side second

Milan Futuro came back from 0-2 behind to win 3-2 against Chievo Verona on Sunday afternoon, following goals from Diego Sia, Chaka Traore and Mattia Cappelletti.

Following the 2-1 win on the opening day, Oddo and his men only got one point against AC Leon earlier this week. We say only as a 2-0 lead turned into a 2-2 draw, and the players were thus eager to bounce back in the game against Chievo Verona today.

Initially, it seemed we would be heading for another disappointing goal as the away team scored not one, but two goals in the first half. Both were gifted goals, in our opinion, as the Rossoneri goalkeeper Leo Paul Bouyer struggled massively with his positioning.

Thankfully, Sia pulled one back before the first half ended after picking up the loose ball after a corner, firing the ball into the top corner. Milan managed to build on this in the second half as Chaka Traore got the ball on the edge of the box, before turning and finding the back of the net.

That was in the 52nd minute and it wasn’t long before the comeback was completed. Indeed, just three minutes later, Cappelletti tried his luck from distance and his shot beat the keeper thanks to a wicked deflection.

Shortly thereafter, Chievo brought on the former Milan player Alberto Paloschi (now 35 years old) in what was a full-circle moment of sorts. The veteran had a shot denied by Bouyer in the dying minutes but ultimately, Milan Futuro were able to defend their lead.

With two wins and a draw in the opening three games, Oddo’s men are now in second place. So far so good, in other words, and the next game is against Casatese Merate on Wednesday.
