‘Milan had enquired’ – Moretto explains how far the pursuit of Real Madrid’s Garcia went

There have been several defenders linked to AC Milan this summer, and Fran Garcia was one of the newer ideas.

With Theo Hernandez leaving for Saudi Arabia, Milan needed to sign a left-back this summer. However, if he remained, there was a large chance of another joining regardless. It would have been unwise to enter next season without anyone and no money.

So, the Rossoneri parted with the long-serving Frenchman and moved to the future. Maxim De Cuyper and Archie Brown passed by, leaving the mercato looking a little closed. However, Pervis Estupinan was eventually elected to join.

Nothing for Garcia

Before him, though, there were suggestions that the Diavolo were considering another move for a Real Madrid left-back, replicating the move that brought Theo to Milano. But, things never really took off for Garcia.

This morning, Matteo Moretto provided some information about the pursuit and how it ended, as MilanNews relayed.

“Milan had inquired about the cost of Fran Garcia’s operation and whether Real Madrid would let him go. Well, a little update: Real Madrid wants to continue with Fran Garcia, especially because they’re unsure about Mendy’s fitness. This is an important update for Real Madrid fans rather than Milan fans.”
