AC Milan were on the receiving end of a gorgeous goal this weekend, but the fact it was allowed to happen is the frustration.
Nice goals happen in football. However, when they are welcomed due to poor defending, it is a little different. For the second time in the game, and for the nth time in the past 12 months, Milan conceded a cross.
Almost everything has been seen before, the area which the goal went into and the lack of marking. However, the goal itself has been seen before, in some form, when Federico Bonazzoli scored a bicycle kick for Salernitana in the 2021/22 season.
Practice makes perfect
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport after his winner, the forward made a few admissions about the goal, as well as his Inter past, as MilanPress relays.
“AC Milan is a lucky place for me because it’s not the first time it’s happened, but it has nothing to do with rivalry. I spent 12 years of my life at Inter. I made my debut wearing the Nerazzurri shirt at San Siro, for me, it’s a magical stadium.
“At Inter, I created relationships that are still alive; it’s the place of my heart, but I’m an Interista regardless of what I do on the pitch.”

“The move? It just comes to me. As a child, at home, I would do bicycle kicks with any object. It’s an instinctive move that comes naturally to me and has stayed with me. I don’t think it can be trained, and at San Siro, my best version emerged.
“When Pezzella’s cross came in, I thought, ‘This is perfect.’ In that moment, something clicked, then I hit it too well and immediately thought about scoring. When you practice the move often, you know immediately if the shot is the right one .”
It is a goal which the Rossoneri will hope to erase from memory very quickly. Though it cannot be repeated often, if at all, doing so would be a failure.
