AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni has reacted to the news that San Siro is finally owned by the two clubs who play in it.

The signatures were expected on Wednesday for the deed of sale of the current stadium to Milan and Inter, and they did indeed arrive. The Stadio Giuseppe Meazza and the area surrounding it is now owned by the clubs in what is the first big official step in their bid to build a new home nearby.

Milan president Paolo Scaroni – upon leaving the notary’s office – smiled as he reacted to the deal’s conclusion. As MilanPress report, he uttered just one line: “Good things always take time.”

The construction of the new stadium and the regeneration project for the San Siro area has been high on the priority list for both clubs, who first embarked on the journey together a few years ago. They went their separate ways, but more recently reunited for the ‘new San Siro’ plan.

Foster + Partners and MANICA will be entrusted with the design and development of the new world-class stadium and the masterplan for the area around it.

Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Banco BPM and BPER Banca are all a part of the financing aspect of the purchase of San Siro, the statement confirmed.
