Milan Primavera 0-2 Genoa: Rossoneri fall to second straight league defeat

AC Milan’s Primavera side fell to their second consecutive defeat in the league on Sunday afternoon as they were beaten by Genoa.

The young Rossoneri began the season with a 2-1 win away from home against Lecce, but they fell to a 2-1 loss at home to Sassuolo in the second round, so they were hoping to bounce back against the Genovese.

The first half was largely dominated by Genoa, and they took the lead less than four minutes in through Romano. Sala lost it in midfield, allowing the Rossoblu captain to race forward and finish past Longoni in the Milan goal.

Before the interval, Zulevic was very close to doubling the lead with a shot that hit the post – with Longoni getting a touch – then eight minutes later Ossola hit the crossbar with a volley.

The killer blow came in the 39th minute when Romano got his second of the game. A counter-attack after Borsani’s giveaway on the edge of the penalty area saw Odero’s shot blocked by Longoni, but the rebound was fired in.

In truth, Renna’s side didn’t create lots to get themselves back into the game though they did have an effort cleared off the line in the second half. Unfortunately, though, it is two defeats from three to begin the campaign.
