Milan Primavera coach Giovanni Renna was happy with the way that his side performance in the 2-1 victory over Lecce.

Simone Lontani was the hero of the day for Milan as he scored two quickfire goals to help the Rossoneri get the better of Lecce in Renna’s first game in charge. The home side would eventually halve the deficit, but Milan held on.

Renna spoke to Milan TV after the full-time whistle to give his thoughts on what was an ideal start to the new season, with his comments via MilanNews.

“It was a great feeling right up until kick-off, then I only thought about the match. I have to compliment the team, who, even under pressure from both the fans and our opponents on the pitch, often came out with the ball at our feet,” he said.

“This means we’re on the right track, even though we know we have a lot of work to do. We have a good mix of young players and more experienced players in the category. Now let’s put this victory aside immediately and start thinking about the next match tomorrow.

“What do I ask of the more experienced players? I ask talent to sacrifice. Today Lontani scored two goals, but he also sacrificed a lot. He’s a winger and today at times he even dropped down to play as a wing-back. I always ask for a lot of sacrifice, and sacrifice always pays off.

“The new arrivals? Piermarini arrived recently, he only trained for three days, but today he was perfect, he didn’t make any mistakes. Honestly, I’m happy with the new players, there’s a lot of work to do. This is a starting point , let’s focus on Sassuolo right away.”
