AC Milan Women played Fiorentina in the first leg of the Coppa Italia Women quarter final, and they will be glad to travel to Florence with the score level.

After a disappointing draw against Parma at the weekend, Milan were looking to bounce back with a big result in the Coppa Italia. Indeed, with a semi-final place up for grabs, the Rossonere hoped to get themselves to Florence with an early advantage in the tie.

However, Suzanne Bakker’s side could only manage a draw against the visiting side.

Things started rather poorly in Solbiate Arno, with La Viola taking an early hold of the game, and they were rewarded for doing so. In fact, it only took 10 minutes for Woldvik to score the opener. However, Milan did not give up.

It was the second half where Bakker’s side really began to turn the tide, showing some real grit in the second half – a noticeable change from the start of the evening – and they did eventually manage to get level.
