Milos Kerkez has turned to social media following another challenging outing in what has been a troublesome beginning to his Liverpool tenure, as the defeat to Manchester United continued his struggles.
The Reds suffered their fourth consecutive loss after Harry Maguire's late header secured victory for the Red Devils, marking their first triumph at Anfield since 2016. Arne Slot's players generated numerous opportunities against their fierce rivals but remained vulnerable at the back once more.
They went behind early in contentious fashion through Bryan Mbeumo's second-minute strike, and while Cody Gakpo levelled matters in the 78th minute, Maguire's header six minutes later condemned them to another late defeat for the third Premier League fixture running.
Kerkez particularly struggled throughout the encounter, with Matthijs de Ligt revealing that United had specifically targeted Liverpool's wing-back positions.
"We knew that Liverpool had weaknesses, and that's their full-backs," he confessed to ViaPlay.
The Hungarian remains the sole player to have appeared in all 12 of Liverpool's fixtures this campaign, yet he continues to face relentless examination and harsh criticism following several underwhelming displays and errors since his transfer from AFC Bournemouth.
The 21-year-old found it tough against Amad Diallo during Sunday's reverse, as well as both Mbuemo and Matheus Cunha previously.
Pundits Gary Neville, Jamie Redknapp and Jamie Carragher all criticized the defender while working for Sky Sports at Anfield. Following the criticism, Kerkez turned to social media on Monday to deliver a resolute message to Liverpool fans.
"We stay together and come back!" the defender posted on Instagram, alongside several photographs from the match.
Kerkez wasn't alone in addressing supporters via social media after the Reds' most recent defeat, with Dominik Szoboszlai also responding defiantly.
"These moments test us, but we're built for the fight! Back to work!" he posted on Instagram beneath an image of the midfielder acknowledging the crowd.
Curtis Jones similarly issued a rallying call to the Liverpool faithful through his Instagram story.
"Difficult moment, not what we're used to and not what we want," he wrote. "We will get through this together. All focus on Wednesday, thank you for the support as always."
Liverpool resumes its campaign with a trip to face Eintracht Frankfurt when its Champions League journey continues on Wednesday.
