There was some frustration about AC Milan’s perceived lack of movement in the January window, but in fact they made several moves for the future.
As MilanNews write, given that Milan are second place in the league and have a squad with obvious gaps in some areas of the pitch, fans had high expectations for the winter transfer window. Instead only one signing for the first team was made: Niclas Füllkrug.
A physical striker like him was desperately needed, but the collapse of the Jean-Philippe Mateta deal on deadline day disappointed, as well as the fact a central defender and a right-back did not arrive either.
Sporting director Igli Tare explained things to DAZN before the match against Bologna: “We didn’t have the need. If there had been someone who could really help us, we would have done so, but then we decided, together with Max, to move forward with this group that has given us great satisfaction up to this point.”

Looking to the future
While only one signing was made for the first team in January, the club made significant moves to strengthen the Milan Futuro squad with some very interesting signings.
In defence, the 2008-born El Hadj Malick Cissè and 2007-born Magnus Dalpiaz arrived. In midfield the 2009-born Aaron Babaj, 2005-born Jacopo Sardo and 2008-born Yahya Idrissi-Regragui signed. To strengthen the attack, Alphadjo Cissè (2006-bon) was brought in.
After their arrival at the Rossoneri, they were added to Massimo Oddo’s second team, but in the coming months they will also train with the first team. From there – perhaps in the preseason camp – Max Allegri will have the chance to see them up close and immediately get an idea of who is ready.
