Alex Jimenez completed a move to AFC Bournemouth this afternoon, and the details of the operation have now been revealed.

Bournemouth announced the deal on their website earlier today: “AFC Bournemouth is delighted to announce the signing of talented full-back Álex Jiménez on an initial loan deal from AC Milan.

“The 20-year-old defender, regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in European football, joins the Cherries with 34 appearances under his belt in all competitions for Milan.”

The details

MilanNews confirm that Jimenez has signed a contract with Bournemouth. The Spaniard heads there on loan for €1.5m, with an obligation to buy (provided he makes at least 18 Premier League starts this season) set at €18.5m.

In other words, Jimenez will have to start about half of the league games that the Cherries play in 2025-26 in order for the deal to become worth €20m. Otherwise, it will remain an optional clause.

It was revealed by Fabrizio Romano recently that Milan turned down a big offer from Napoli for Jimenez earlier in the summer. However, it has now been determined that he is surplus to requirements, also because of question marks about his attitude.
