AC Milan will welcome back a legend at San Siro tomorrow, with Franco Baresi set to be in attendance for the game against Sassuolo.
Tomorrow’s game is a big one for several reasons. Most importantly, though, if Milan win, they would be top at Christmas, regardless of what happens whilst they are in Saudi Arabia. It would be a massive statement of intent for their season.
They could also end the year with a six-point – maybe more – gap to fifth place, which would be huge for their aims of the Champions League, which Massimiliano Allegri reminded everyone of today in his press conference.
When asked, he repeated a few times that the aim for this season was a top-four place. He is certainly keen to ensure that the squad do not get too caught up in dreams of a second star.
Baresi’s return
The game will also be big for another reason. This evening, MilanNews reports that Franco Baresi will be in attendance for the game tomorrow for the first time in a while.
Baresi returned to work last month after a period of treatment and recovery for a pulmonary nodule found in August. So for him to be in attendance tomorrow is another positive step forward. The legend will be given a warm welcome, hopefully with three points.
