This season, Alexis Saelemaekers has been a standout player for AC Milan, and he will hope to return in fine form.
The international break was kind to Milan as a whole. 12 players departed, and none returned with any concerns. In fact, most return in fine spirits, whether that be from personal contributions or team achievements.
An example of that is Saelemaekers, who secured World Cup qualification after a 7-0 win against Liechtenstein. In that game, he scored a goal whilst also assisting another. A pretty solid game by all accounts.

Now, he returns to Milanello in high spirits, and the hope is that they remain. With the Derby della Madonnina awaiting, it is a perfect opportunity for them to do so.
Saelemaekers, in particular, could be key, given he is shining for club and now his country, too, as MilanNews reports. So, he aims to keep his fine form going, hoping to be key in the derby this weekend.
His journey to this point has been fantastic, and only recently, he was a relative unknown for the Diavolo. Now, though, it is difficult not to see him as one of Massimiliano Allegri’s biggest protagonists. With derby experience (and success) elsewhere, he can be pivotal.
