MN: Loftus-Cheek can be Allegri’s ‘extra’ – Lecce game shows Milan’s hidden ace

There was always somewhat of a feeling that Ruben Loftus-Cheek could return for AC Milan this season, and he may have. 

Looking at Loftus-Cheek, he is the typical sort of midfielder that Massimiliano Allegri tends to love, a strong, capable player that has a rather imposing build. In most teams that the Italian has, there has been someone like the Englishman.

However, the long-standing issues with injuries raised the question of whether he can really be what is needed?

Loftus-Cheek’s role

After the Cremonese game, it seemed like the answer was probably no, and the Lecce game showed signs of this, too. A few poor touches and some squandered opportunities caused frustration. However, the midfielder did, eventually, get himself on the scoresheet.

With the goal and his general performance, MilanNews states that he can be ‘Allegri’s extra player’. He was more impactful and defended well when required. Technically, he is solid, and there is a reasonable question about his ability to score goals this year.

Per reports, the new coach wants 15 from central midfield, which the report questions if the Englishman could do by himself. With consistency and work, Allegri may have a gem on his hands. For now, Ruben is rough, but he can be an ace for Milan, and he knows that too.
