MN: Mateta may still arrive as Nkunku says no to exit – the situation

4 days ago 32

It seemed AC Milan would need a striker to leave this month to allow someone new to arrive. However, this may not be the case.

Throughout the season so far, Milan have been tempted by the idea of signing a new striker. To do so, it seemed they would have had to part with one of the options already at the club.

Santiago Gimenez’s injury has effectively ruled out one option, leaving Christopher Nkunku as the only other option. Yet, he has never opened to a move. When Fenerbahce were interested in a move early in the mercato, there were no bites.

So, it seemed that the Rossoneri would go without another striker addition this month.

French connection possible?

Things have changed slightly in the past 24 hours, though, and now Jean-Philippe Mateta’s name is ringing around the heads of Milanisti. There is a chance that the Frenchman joins the club, but it seemed like hope would be needed.

Reports initially stated that a departure would be needed, but it seems that this is no longer the case. As MilanNews writes, the French duo could both play a part in the second half of the season, with the former Chelsea man not open to a departure currently.

This may not kill the pursuit of the Crystal Palace striker, though, with all parties hoping to get a move done in the next few days. As a result, the pair could both be at the club until the summer, when Nkunku’s situation would be revisited.
