AC Milan are moving closer to being able to announce the extension of Alexis Saelemaekers’ contract, a report claims.
Saelemaekers has been one of the key performers for Milan in their positive start to the season, having nailed down a starting spot in the right wing-back role, one that looks tailor-made for his qualities.
The Belgian spent two years on loan at Bologna and at Roma, but returned to Milanello this summer to stay. Massimiliano Allegri has placed great faith in him, and it is being repaid, so a renewal could follow.
Deserved renewal coming
According to MilanNews, discussions regarding Saelemaekers’ contract renewal are ongoing, but the crucial meeting to finalise the deal hasn’t been scheduled yet.
Both the club and the player are ‘highly optimistic’ about reaching an agreement to extend the current deal, which is set to expire in June 2027, therefore at the end of next season.

The basis of the talks is a four-year contract with an option for a fifth year, so it would be a long-term extension to demonstrate the faith that the club have in the former Anderlecht man.
In the meantime, Saelemaekers is busy with his national team and then will return to Milanello to begin preparing for Sunday’s derby against Inter, perhaps with some work on close-range shooting after his late miss in Parma.
