Luka Modric is perhaps the first name on the team sheet for AC Milan at the moment, with the midfielder working overtime.
As MilanNews write, the numbers that Modric is putting up at 40 show that age really is just a number. It really does appear that the Croatian is ‘timeless’ and it is no surprise that Massimiliano Allegri has placed a lot of faith in him.
Class is permanent
Modric will start his ninth Serie A match for Milan tonight, because Allegri believes that he is ‘tireless and irreplaceable’. There should have been no doubt about it, but many wondered whether the former Real Madrid man could actually maintain such a pace at his age.
For now, Modric is proving that he can. Speaking of being proven right, Igli Tare was the one who decided to take a chance this summer despite the skepticism surrounding a move that has so far been a complete success, both for Milan and the player.

What will become an issue to tackle as the fixtures get more congested is the work load that he is currently subjected to. However, Allegri addressed this in his press conference on the eve of the Atalanta game, suggesting Modric is being smart with the distance he covers.
“Luka is very good at managing himself, and he’s so good at playing in front of the defence that he runs well and makes it look like he’s running a lot. He also plays wonderful football, so the more he plays, the better it is for everyone.”
