AC Milan secured a hard-fought three points on Sunday night in front of their own fans, beating Bologna thanks to Luka Modric’s goal.
Modric got the only goal of the game on the hour mark as he swept home an Alexis Saelemaekers cut-back from the edge of the box. Unfortunately, the much-needed victory seems to have come at a cost in terms of personnel.
Injury update
At half-time, Strahinja Pavlovic was forced to withdraw and he was replaced by Koni De Winter. Captain Mike Maignan asked to come off during the second half, and he was replaced by Pietro Terracciano.
According to the latest from MilanNews, the initial information on the two injured players is as follows: Maignan has a strain in his right calf, while Pavlovic has a strain in his left flexor. Tests will likely be scheduled in the next few days to learn more.
The hope is that they will not be lengthy absences, but Rafael Leao’s calf issue will keep him out for over 40 days as per predictions. It is frustrating for both players to face a period out so early in the season but in particular for Maignan, given his history with injuries in recent seasons.
