MN: Saelemaekers returns to training with Milan squad and will be available for Roma

Some good news has come from Milanello today, as Alexis Saelemaekers returned to full training with the squad.

There were fears about a potential long-term absence for Saelemaekers when he grabbed his adductor during the closing stages of Sunday’s win over Lecce. It became apparent he had avoided a muscle tear and that it was a strain, with a day-to-day evaluation regarding recovery time.

On Wednesday and Thursday the Belgian had been training individually, which obviously fuelled fears that he would not be available for the Roma game. The match at the weekend is huge in terms of the table, but also because it is Saelemaekers’ former club, having played there on loan last season.

MilanNews provide a positive update from Milanello regarding the condition of Saelemaekers. The former Anderlecht man, who had undergone solo work in recent days to overcome the left adductor strain sustained against Lecce, has returned to training with the rest of the squad.

He is therefore fit for Sunday’s big game in the capital. At this point, it will be up to Massimiliano Allegri to decide whether to start him on the right flank or start him on the bench, with Zachary Athekame taking his place.
