MN: ‘Searching for a spark from both sides’ – Maignan currently heading for ‘very painful’ exit

The risk of Mike Maignan leaving on a free transfer continues to grow, as there have been no moves from either side over a new deal.

As MilanNews report, a renewal currently remains on hold for Maignan, with no progress made, but also no desire to admit defeat. The situation is ‘stagnant, immobile, searching for a spark from both sides’ – management and player.

Maignan’s quality and importance are beyond dispute. That’s why yet another free transfer exit would be ‘very painful’, following Donnarumma, Kessiè and Çalhanoğlu. The future remains uncertain and the road is uphill, with more talk about replacements rather than good news on the renewal front.

At present, with a long season having just gotten underway and many games to play, Maignan’s mindset and mentality remain firmly set on Milan. The professionalism of the Frenchman – who has been with the Rossoneri since 2021 and has always demonstrated great commitment – cannot be questioned.

Planning for a season can’t be done in a few weeks though, so Milan need to understand his intentions sooner rather than later. Maignan ultimately wanted to stay at Milan until his contract expires (June 2026), . Mike is currently the captain, but the future remains damned unwritten.
