MN: ‘The last resort’ – Milan planning on playing Allegri card for Maignan’s future

Mike Maignan is the big topic of AC Milan heading into next summer. His contract is up, and there is no sign of change.

Looking ahead to next summer, Milan have a big issue facing them, and it is their own fault in many regards. The first rumblings of a renewal, at least seriously, started two years ago, nearly, before the European Championship.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic said everything was under control, but then it wasn’t. The Rossoneri lost Theo Hernandez this summer, and at this rate, they will lose Maignan. Again, though, it is their own fault.

Allegri for Maignan

Earlier this year, reports suggested that a deal had been agreed with Maigan. However, the Diavolo pulled out of negotiations due to his poor form, and this led to him being reluctant to re-enter talks. This even to the point where he asked to join Chelsea in the summer.

Relations, as MilanNews report, are still frosty, with Maignan ‘not really open’ to discussions, at least not at the moment. His love for the team remains, but his priorities have ‘shifted’.

So, this is where the club hopes for a new card to be played. Here, Massimiliano Allegri could step in, given that he is one of the few people at the club to have a good relationship with the goalkeeper. The report continues, stating that Allegri could then ask him to renew, with their bond playing a big part.

Of course, financial aid would be provided too. However, Milan want to keep Maignan at the centre of the project.
