Today marks a year since AC Milan sacked Paulo Fonseca, and it offers a chance for us to look back at the changes.
When Fonseca was sacked, and even in the months that followed, Milan were a mess. There were problems everywhere, and it was a massively toxic environment. Issues from the summer continued into January, and the 2024/25 season was one to forget.
Then, Massimiliano Allegri arrived and since then, he has fixed a lot, but exactly how much has changed.
A look back at the year
As MilanNews writes, the Fonseca chapter was one of the ‘most depressing chapters’ in the club’s recent history. However, it was not instantly followed by a better one. The Supercoppa Italiana gave a mask to the Rossoneri.
Yet, their flaws were still more than visible. Poor results arrived as the faith in the management lessened. Protests against players and staff followed and a decision to overhaul everything was made.
Since then, Allegri has definitely overturned things. On the pitch, the Diavolo look more Milanese, and whilst there are still flaws, pride in the team has returned. The love for the players has arrived once more, and the coach is also the recipient of praise.

Nevertheless, there are still issues to fix thanks to poor decisions in the mercato. Giorgio Furlani and the management, as the report states, are still unpopular, but there is a balance present. It is now up to them to continue and enhance it.
They say you need to make mistakes to learn, so perhaps last season was needed. Nevertheless, a lot of mistakes still need to be fixed and some have more credit in the bank than others.
