This morning, Alexis Saelemaekers underwent some tests on his injured leg, and it seems he will miss at least one game for AC Milan.
The international break is always a worrying time for clubs, especially for those with players in good form, like Saelemaekers. Since returning from Roma, the Belgian has been on fire, with no one able to displace him.
Signed as a winger, the 26-year-old has found a period of success at wing-back in Massimiliano Allegri’s system, and looks to be one of the better players in the division right now. As a result, missing him is a big loss.
Saelemaekers sidelined
How long Milan will be without their Belgian star, though, is currently undetermined. As MilanNews reports, the initial medical tests show an injury to the flexor in his right leg – the same result as the tests in Belgium.
It means he will certainly miss this weekend’s game against Fiorentina, which takes place on Sunday. Next week, he will undergo further tests to see how things are progressing. These injuries can vary in recovery, but the report suggests that he may be out for two weeks to a month.
Given the importance of the wing-back, it will be interesting to see how Allegri handles his recovery.
