Modric full of positivity after Milan move: “One of the biggest clubs in the world”

Luka Modric has revealed that his start to life as an AC Milan player has been positive, and he has been welcomed ‘in the best possible way’.

Modric was probably the most high-profile name that Milan signed in the summer mercato, joining on a free transfer after his contract at Real Madrid expired. Given that he won 28 major trophies at Madrid – making him the most decorated footballer in the club’s history – it is understandable.

So far, the Croatian has been playing in a deeper-lying midfield role for the Rossoneri, and a report yesterday outlined how it was something that he suggested to Massimiliano Allegri in order to dictate the tempo of the game.

Modric spoke at a press conference from Croatia’s training camp ahead of tonight’s match against Montenegro, and naturally he was asked about how he is adapting to life at a new club. TMW relayed his comments.

“This adaptation phase is very important for me. I can only say positive things : the club, the team, my teammates, and the coach have welcomed me in the best possible way.

“I’m enthusiastic about the club, its size, its organisation. You can see that it’s one of the biggest clubs in the world, even if it’s not currently at the same level of results as it was in the 1990s or 2000s.”
