Modric ‘positive’ as unbeaten run continues for Milan despite ‘unfortunate’ penalty

Luka Modric believes that AC Milan conceded an ‘unlucky’ penalty against Roma, who wouldn’t have broken the resistance otherwise.

Milan were under pressure from Roma for large parts of the game up until Modric whipped in a gorgeous cross for Koni De Winter to head home and make it 0-1 in the second half.

It looked like another potential smash and grab, though Davide Bartesaghi was penalised for a handball and Lorenzo Pellegrini scored from the spot to earn an eventual 1-1 draw.

Mike Maignan has already voiced his disapproval regarding the decision, believing that Bartesaghi had nowhere to put his arm and knew very little about it.

Modric spoke just after the Frenchman on DAZN to offer his thoughts on the game, which have been relayed by MilanNews.

Did Roma look much superior in the first half?

“I think we started the first 10 minutes well, then Roma dominated, and Mike saved us. We did much better in the second half, creating some chances, and then came this unfortunate penalty.

“If it hadn’t been for that, I don’t think they would have scored. Our unbeaten run continues, and that’s a positive thing for us. It’s a shame we couldn’t hold on to our lead.”
