The future of Mohamed Salah at Liverpool has been thrown into uncertainty after he dramatically stated that he feels "thrown under the bus" by the club and has no rapport with Arne Slot.
Salah remained on the bench during Saturday's 3-3 draw at Leeds, marking the third consecutive match where the Egyptian international started as a substitute. Speaking to journalists post-match at Elland Road, including Matt Addison from Liverpool.com, Salah cast doubt over his Liverpool tenure and hinted that next Saturday's fixture against Brighton could be his final appearance in a Reds shirt.
During the extensive interview, which spanned over seven minutes, Salah also took a dig at ex-Reds defender Jamie Carragher.
When questioned about interest from the Saudi Pro League, the 33-year-old responded: "In football, you never know.
"I don’t accept this situation. I have done so much for this club. I don’t want to answer this question [about Saudi], because the club is going to take me to a different direction. After what I have done for the club, it really hurts. You can imagine, really.
"After going from home to the club and you don’t know if you are starting. I know the club too well; I have been here many years. Tomorrow Carragher is going to go for me again and again, and that’s fine."
The mention of Carragher follows the Kop legend's criticism of Salah's leadership qualities, claiming he only speaks out "when he needs a new contract or wins man of the match" after the Reds' crushing 3-0 home loss to Nottingham Forest.
"After the Forest game, Virgil van Dijk has come out and spoken, as he should do as the captain," Carragher said on Sky Sports.
"On the back of all these Liverpool defeats, it’s always Van Dijk who comes out and speaks. The captain should do that, but there should be other players in that dressing room and speaking for the club.
"A year ago this weekend, Mo Salah wasn’t shy in speaking about his own situation and the club not offering him a contract. I only ever hear Salah speak when he gets man of the match or when he needs a new contract.
"I would like to see Salah as one of the leaders and legends of Liverpool come out and speak for the team."
Salah has netted five goals and provided three assists across 18 appearances this campaign, but has struggled to reach his typical levels. Carragher suggested before Liverpool's 2-0 triumph over West Ham last weekend that Salah's physical powers have declined.
He said: "The catalyst for Liverpool at the very start of the run in 2018 with Jurgen Klopp was Alisson, Van Dijk, and Salah.
"Alisson's injured a lot now, he doesn't play so much. But you watch Van Dijk now, not the same player, and Mo Salah looks like his legs have gone."
