AC Milan have made a range of different signings this summer, and there is no sign of things slowing really.
This summer, Milan have worked effectively in some key areas; even if there are still positions that need strengthening urgently. The midfield has been reworked, whilst the backline has also had some attention.
Most importantly, though, the structure of the Rossoneri has been cemented. Massimiliano Allegri’s return to the club adds some solidity, whilst Igli Tare hopes to deliver a long-term plan. Both have really been missing in the past few years.
Montolivo’s review
Of course, there is a lot of work that must be done through the season if the Diavolo are to compete for a European place. However, Milan can certainly be involved in the conversation if they work as they did in pre-season.
Speaking to La Repubblica, Riccardo Montolivo spoke about the key arrivals and even reminisced on his time in Rossoneri, as MilanPress relays.
“He and Tare were two great signings. Max is a savvy coach; he puts the players in their place and manages to bring out the qualities of the squad. The squad has strengthened in midfield, but something is still missing at the back. But I think they will be a key player in Serie A this season.
“Napoli are far away today. Does Max add value? Yes, because he brings organisation and solidity. He also already has a clear idea of how to deploy the team, trying to bring out the qualities of his best player, Leao. With his winning experience, he will change the mentality of this Milan.”
Modric’s impact…
“A transfer opportunity that Milan did well to seize. In Serie A, even at 40, he can make the difference. I can’t wait to see him play. He and De Bruyne are the kind of players that Milan and Napoli were missing.”
Time at Milan…

“No regrets, in Florence it was difficult to win. At Milan, on the other hand, I arrived in the right place but at the wrong time. My regret is never having had an experience abroad. There were opportunities, but I never wanted to leave Milan, the team I supported as a child.”
