Montolivo certain Milan will ‘be battling for fourth place’ with Juve and Roma

Riccardo Montolivo shared his thoughts on AC Milan’s 2-2 draw against Parma last night, stating that the Rossoneri will be fighting for the top four spots rather than the Scudetto.

Montolivo used to wear the captain’s armband for Milan back in the day, spending several years at the club after joining from Fiorentina in 2012. The Rossoneri were actually his last club as well, retiring from football in 2019 after a season of not getting any playing time at all.

Since then, the former midfielder has been working as a pundit for DAZN and various other channels. Last night, as Milan drew 2-2 against Parma, Montolivo was present in the Sky Italia studios and shared his thoughts on the result after the game.

“Saelemaekers? He has made a great return to Milan. He’s a balancer, often patching things up, but he’s also someone who makes a difference.

“The Scudetto? In my opinion, Napoli and Inter will be fighting for it. I don’t think Milan can fight until the end. They will be battling for fourth place with Roma and Juventus,” he said as transcribed by MilanNews.

Sadly, based on the fact that Milan have dropped seven points against Cremonese, Pisa and Parma, it’s hard to disagree with Montolivo. Max Allegri has also made it clear several times that finishing in the top four is the main target.
