Manchester City players have not let go of their final feeling as they hunt more silverware in the closing weeks of the season

Manchester City are treating every game like a final as they hunt more trophies this season. The Blues followed up their Carabao Cup triumph over Arsenal last month by thumping Liverpool 4-0 to book a return to Wembley in the FA Cup semi-finals.

City weren’t able to properly celebrate their League Cup triumph, with their players having to head straight off on international duty. But they are more focused on the silverware they can add to their collection before the end of the season.

Beating Arsenal has lifted Pep Guardiola’s side and they were far too good for Liverpool at the Etihad on Saturday to book an incredible eighth consecutive FA Cup semi-final. Antoine Semenyo scored one and made one to continue his excellent form since a January switch from Bournemouth, and he will be hoping his former club can do City a favour next week when they play Arsenal in the Premier League.

Arsenal have a nine-point lead but have wobbled recently, following up their their League Cup final defeat to City with a shock FA Cup exit at Championship side Southampton. Guardiola’s side have a tough trip to Chelsea next weekend and then host Arsenal at the Etihad, where they will be looking to rise to bring the spirit of a final again to give themselves the best chance of winning.

"City have aspirations to win every trophy or compete for every trophy and I want to be in a team like that. I'm grateful and let's see how it goes," said Semenyo. "For me personally, winning a trophy is great but there is so much aspiration and so many goals we want to achieve this season.

"There is more to come and we just have to keep going. It's the most important part of the season now. We want to win as many games as we can, taking it game by game, and every game is a final now so we have to keep pushing and see what happens."
