Moretto: ‘A very cold trail’ – Milan unlikely to sign preferred right-back target

AC Milan are not making any ground in negotiations with Strasbourg over Guela Doue as a big gap over the transfer fee remains.

Matteo Moretto spoke in a video published on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel and he gave an update on the negotiations between Milan and Strasbourg for Doué, a target for the right-back role.

“Nothing has changed in the last few days. The gap between the two clubs is still very wide. Relations between Milan and Strasbourg, which are backed by the same ownership as Chelsea, are cold. The negotiations are therefore very complicated and at the moment it is a very cold trail,” he said (via MilanNews).

An alternative target?

It was reported by Sky late last night that Milan would make one last attempt to sign Doue from the Ligue 1 club, and if they were unsuccessful then they would turn to Marc Pubill of Almeria.

It is believed that the Spain U21 international is available for a lower fee, and given that time is of the essence that might be exactly why Igli Tare pivots targets.

Milan must also try to secure two full-backs quickly, as both the right and left sides will need starters. Alex Jimenez and Alexis Saelemaekers can fill in if needed but it seems obvious that they are not considered as nailed-on to take either full-back role, given they are better further forward.
