AC Milan are closing in on the signing of Zachary Athekame, who will become the club’s new starting right-back, according to a report.
Ever since Alessandro Florenzi and Emerson Royal parted ways with the club, in addition to Davide Calabria whose contract expired at the end of June, Milan have been looking for a right-back. Guela Doue seemed to be the first choice but due to the high price tag, the pursuit never took off.
Young Boys’ Zachary Athekame has now been identified as the best solution and a deal could be closed very soon, according to the latest from Matteo Moretto. Indeed, the clubs are now discussing the ‘details’ of the deal.
Down to the details
In his latest YouTube video, the journalist stated that Milan and Young Boys had held new contacts last night to unblock the transfer. Meanwhile, the player has officially asked to be transferred to the Rossoneri, which certainly helps.
There is a slight difference in the valuation, as Moretto continues, but this is considered to be ‘minimal’ and the clubs are thus at a very advanced stage. The plan is to close the deal this weekend so that the player can travel to Milano at the start of next week.
