Zachary Athekame’s arrival at AC Milan will take place in a matter of time. However, plans for the right-back are already established.

Earlier today, Fabrizio Romano gave the move the ‘Here we go’ confirmation, signalling that Athekame could arrive in the next few days. However, reaching an agreement is just one part, even if it is the most important. There are still a few things to be done before the move can be made official.

Tare’s wishes

Earlier today, Matteo Moretto spoke about the deal, how Milan prioritised the defender and also the next steps forward, as @Garante_Il on X relayed.

“The transfer of Athekame to Milan is a done deal. Athekame is expected in Italy between tonight and tomorrow. I’m told he should undergo medical examinations tomorrow, Thursday, August 14. That’s the plan. Athekame is a profile identified and strongly desired by sporting director Igli Tare.”

A medical on Thursday could mean that the Rossoneri announce two signings in as many days, with Koni De Winter expected to be revealed as a new Diavolo player today. Alternatively, the Swiss right-back could be announced later in the week.

At just 20, it is understandable why Igli Tare moved so quickly for the defender, all things considered. However, some feel that there is more to do in the position before it is secure.
