Luka Modric will make the call on whether his time at AC Milan ends up being one season or extends beyond that, it is claimed.
Modric was one of the first summer signings that Milan got over the line, and there was an added element of romance to it given that he grew up supporting the Rossoneri. He signed on a free transfer following the expiry of his deal at Real Madrid, penning a one-year contract with the option for an extra year.
The games so far show that Milan have found a new leader in Modric, who continues to impress at the base of the midfield trio. While waiting to see what potential tactical tweaks Massimiliano Allegri might come up with now the window is shut, it feels certain he will remain among the first names on the team sheet.
Luka will choose
Moretto spoke on a video on his YouTube channel and he lifted the lid on Rabiot’s arrival plus a swap deal that was talked about with Juventus. In addition, he talked about Modric too.
“I want to clarify a detail related to Luka Modric’s contract with AC Milan. The Croatian has already shown he can do well in our [the Italian] league,” he said.
“Modric has signed a one-year contract with an option for another season. This option is entirely up to the player, so Modric will have to decide what to do at the end of the year.
“This is an important year because it leads up to the World Cup, after which Modric wants to have the freedom to choose whether to stay at Milan or change his life completely. We’ll see what the former Real Madrid player decides to do.”
