Lorenzo Colombo’s move to Genoa is almost two-thirds of the way to becoming permanent, yet there is still a final big condition to tick off.
Colombo provided a reminder of the potential that they have during Thursday night’s draw between Milan and Genoa at San Siro. He got to a cross before his compatriot and former team-mate Matteo Gabbia to put the away side ahead, before Rafael Leao’s equaliser right at the end.
Now, it has emerged that his future at Genoa could soon become more than just a loan. As reported by Matteo Moretto on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, the Primavera graduate is on loan with a conditional obligation to buy, and those conditions are being ticked.
The parameters are clear: he must make 22 appearances this season (and is currently on 19), he must scored five goals overall (already on four) and, above all, Genoa must stay in the top flight. If all three criteria are met, the Rossoblu would purchase Colombo outright from Milan for €10m.

Milan in his heart
A lot of Milan fans wanted to see Colombo succeed at the club and become an academy success story, but it is looking more and more like his long-term future will be away from Milanello and the San Siro.
Speaking of which, after scoring the goal that got Genoa a point the other night, the forward admitted that celebrating against the team of his heart just wouldn’t feel right.
You didn’t celebrate against Milan this time either. Will you celebrate eventually?
“Impossible, I was born here. It was such an important part of my life; they raised me when I was five years old. I won’t celebrate. It’s the best stadium in Italy with these colours, when you enter it gives you a positive energy.”
