Moretto explains why Milan are ‘in a hurry’ to close Maignan deal ‘as soon as possible’

AC Milan are hoping to clear up the doubts surrounding AC Milan’s future sooner rather than later, according to Matteo Moretto.

Even a few weeks ago it felt like Maignan was destined to depart Milan at the end of the season when his contract expires. However, more optimism has filtered recently about the possibility that the Frenchman might change his mind.

In fact, talks have rekindled and seem to be pointing towards a positive finale, something which appeared unthinkable but has materialised thanks to the work of Massimiliano Allegri, Igli Tare and the rest of the staff.

Moretto spoke in a video on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel and he gave a brief update on Maignan’s renewal situation, confirming that Milan want to get things tied up quickly.

“Clearly, Milan want to try to close the Maignan deal as soon as possible, because Maignan can already sign for another team if he wants to, from 1 February, so Milan are in a hurry and wants to close the deal as soon as possible, but there is no real deadline,” he said.

Maignan was again excellent in the game against Fiorentina this afternoon, making some big saves to keep his side in the game, in particular one on Moise Kean. For the Rossoneri, the hope will be that they can lock down their captain long term.
